Kilt Pins

The kilt pin became fashionable in the 1800s and has continued in mode to this day,.

It is universally worn on all kilts or kilted skirts.

In the past the Highlanders invariably elaborated the metal parts of their wearing apparel either by the use of precious metals or introducing Cairngorm stones, polished pebbles or jewels.

This practice later extended to Kilt Pins such as those below.

The Claidhmor (91,96,etc) meaning "big sword" and pronounced Claymore was the origional Highlanders' sword.

It was often of incredibly large and heavy proportions requiring the use of both hands. The Scottish Clansman was a magnificent swordsman who spared no effort in finding the finest blades available, as is evidenced by thhe large number of Ferrara and Toledo blades on ancient Claidhmors and Broadswords in the hands of collectors and museums.

The Keppoch Broadsword (108) is a reproduction of the famous Basket Hilted Broadsword used by the ill-fated alistair Macdonald of Keppoch, in support of Bonnie Prince Charlie at the battle of Culloden in 1746 - He charged single handedly against the hanovarians!
