Quaich's
The Quaich (from theGaelic CUCH - cup) is
the traditional Scot's drinking vessel for wisky.
Its distinctive style of shallow bowl and shaped lugs date from medievial
times.
Origionally of wood-staved construction - the 17th centuary saw a move to
principaly pewter construction, decorated with Celtic paterns.
The base of PQ1 is inscribed with two traditional Gaelic toasts - 'Slainte
mhath' or ' your good health' & 'sguah as e' or 'polish it off'. The lugs
of PQ2 are set with 'Cairngorms' and the recessed base can be fitted with
a clan cress badge if required. Each quaich is supplied with a rosewood display
plinth, engravedplaque, historical notes and a box.
The larger St John's Crosses (136) are mounted on polished marble plinths
and come with historical notes.
